"He has no criminal record to my knowledge, on the contrary he is a man who promotes human justice, who promotes human rights."
So why was cat stevens denied access to the US yesterday?
The only reason I can think of is the sheer stupidity of this administration. Stevens, who now goes by the name Yusuf Islam, was detained after his flight was diverted to bangor, maine because Yusuf's name was on a terrorist watch list.
But what's the point of a terrorist watch list? To keep people OFF the planes, and if that doesn't work, at least, as in this case, catch them and divert the plane. Now let's assume for a second that Yusuf was a REAL terrorist, which he's not. according to his charity's website he was in new york city four months ago for a charity event. So why did we go through all the trouble of picking him up this time?
The fact is that we are doing far too little to pick up real terrorists and doing far too much to terrorize our own population. I mean, really, can you say that this is ANYTHING but blatent fear mongering? This smells like the john walker lindh story all over again.
Watch out mommies and daddies, if your not careful, your children could become terrorists too! So when the though police show up at your door, make sure you greet them warmly, lest they think you are *GASP* raising a terrorist *GASP*.
I wonder if you asked george bush which was worse, the terrorist threat or the "gay agenda" what would he say. Or would his head explode from actually trying to think. Someone ask him, yeah right now.
